A rural dirt road stretches into the distance under a clear blue sky. On the left side of the road stand two large trees, while smaller bushes and trees are scattered in the background across a dry, sparsely vegetated landscape.
Welcome to this edition of our project Newsletter!

The QUT Centre for Inclusive Education team had such an enjoyable visit to many schools in Central Region, learning about the important inclusive education work that is happening in each school community.

We also had a blast working with you all at the Workshops!

As mentioned at the May workshops, we ask all project participants to please complete a final survey.

Depending on your engagement with the project, we ask you to complete one of the two below options:

If you only attended the Tuesday and/or Friday workshops, please use the below QR code or link:

Leadership & Collaboration for Inclusive Education

Inclusive education needs to be driven and supported by all levels of education, including school leadership. Because leading an inclusive school is not a simple task, inclusive leadership is best achieved through a network of school leaders who have complementary knowledge and capabilities. In the Leadership and Collaboration for Inclusive Education handout, learn about the skills required and questions to ask to set up inclusive education practices across your school.
You can also access the full suite of Printable Handouts via the project website.

Why not keep the conversation going with your school team by reading Inclusive Education for the 21st Century (Graham, 2024):
  • Read Chapter 8: Leading Inclusive Education Reform to learn about how school and system leaders in Central Queensland built knowledge and capability in inclusive education to lead inclusive education reform, or
  • Read Chapter 18: Collaborating with Colleagues and Other Professionals to learn about what various stakeholders can bring to a collaborative partnership and how professionals can work together to progress inclusive education in school contexts.
Consider using the information handout as a starting point, then read a chapter ahead of a staff meeting, where you can have a 15-minute focused discussion on what you have read and reflected on, and what action you could take.
